Abstrak

Quality management is a fundamental element in improving the competitiveness, credibility, and accountability of higher education institutions. In the current era of global competition, every university must have a structured, planned, and sustainable quality management system to ensure the quality of graduates, learning processes, and institutional governance. This study aims to describe the quality management development model applied at the Islamic College (STAI) Sangatta, East Kutai. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through direct observation, in-depth interviews with leaders and lecturers, and documentation studies of quality documents and self-evaluation reports. The results of the study indicate that STAI Sangatta has implemented the basic principles of quality management, including strategic planning based on vision and mission, implementation of an internal quality assurance system through the PDCA cycle, and active involvement of the academic community in the quality monitoring and evaluation process. However, the implementation of quality management still faces challenges such as limited competent human resources in the field of quality, limited budget, and less than optimal use of information technology. Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening the structure and capacity of the Quality Assurance Institution, integrating digital systems in quality management, and increasing external cooperation to support the acceleration of improving the quality of the institution as a whole.
