PENGARUH CASE METHOD TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DI UNIVERSITAS NEGERI PADANG

Critical thinking skills are one of the most important skills in education. One effective method that encourages students to analyze and evaluate relevant cases in the real world to train critical thinking skills and reduce the gap between practice and theory is the case method. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the case method on students' critical thinking skills. This research is a quantitative research with a correlational type. The study population was Islamic Religious Education students at Padang State University class of 2024 with 55 samples. Purposive sampling technique was used in determining the sample. The research instrument used a questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale for both variables. Data analysis techniques used normality test, linearity, simple linear regression, and hypothesis. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the case method had an effect on students' critical thinking skills. This was evidenced by the calculation of the t count value > t table, namely 4.489 > 1.674. Then, from the results of the r2 value of 0.275, it showed that the case method influenced critical thinking skills by 27.5%, while the remaining 72.5% was influenced by other factors.
