URGENSI PENDIDIKAN ADAB PADA SANTRI DI PONDOK PESANTREN IMAM SYAFI'IY KOTA BIMA

This study aims to explore the urgency of adab (Islamic etiquette) education for students (santri) at Pondok Pesantren Imam Syafi'i in Bima City, particularly at the junior secondary level. Adab education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character, yet its understanding and implementation are often less than optimal. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that although adab education is already included in the pesantren curriculum, many students have not fully understood its concepts and application in daily life. A shallow understanding of adab values and their implementation in social interactions remains the main challenge. Furthermore, the role of teachers and parents in supporting adab education both at the pesantren and at home is highly significant. Consistent habituation of adab, role modeling by teachers, and parental involvement are expected to improve the implementation of adab education, thereby shaping students’ character more effectively. This study concludes that adab education at Pondok Pesantren Imam Syafi'i is essential as a foundation for developing students’ noble character.
