Global transformations triggered by advances in information and communication technology have had a significant impact on various aspects of life, including in the realm of communication theory. Philosophy serves as a basis for understanding this change, since it offers a framework of thought that allows the analysis of the relationship between tradition and modernity in the context of communication. In the 21st century, communication theory has undergone profound changes, reflecting a shift in the global paradigm influenced by factors such as globalization, advances in digital technology, and evolving socio-cultural dynamics. This study aims to investigate how philosophical dialectics can provide an explanation of the changes that occur in communication theory in the 21st century, as well as their impact on the existing communication paradigm. Using a qualitative approach and theoretical analysis, this study seeks to uncover the relationship between the development of philosophical thought and the transformations that occur in communication theory. The findings of this study show that philosophical thought, especially in the context of postmodernism and critical theory, has a crucial role in reformulating communication theories in today's digital and global era. This transformation in communication theory reflects a shift from a linear communication model to a more interactive and complex model. This is in line with the characteristics of a global society that is increasingly connected but also fragmented. Thus, a deeper understanding of the relationship between philosophy and communication theory is essential to face the challenges and opportunities that arise in this era of modern communication.
