PENDEKATAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MEMPERKUAT TOLERANSI BERAGAMA SISWA DI SMPN 1 KOTA BIMA

This research aims to examine the Islamic religious education approach to building interfaith tolerance at SMPN 1 Kota Bima. Tolerance is crucial in Indonesia's diverse society, especially among young people who are in the process of forming their social identity. The research used a qualitative descriptive method, with interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. This study focuses on how Islamic religious education is implemented in schools to teach the values of tolerance, as well as the factors that support or hinder its success. The results show that the approach used in Islamic religious education at SMPN 1 Kota Bima includes the integration of tolerance teachings through the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and social interaction among students. Islamic religious education in this school not only provides religious understanding but also instills mutual respect, honors differences, and promotes peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions. Factors supporting the achievement of this goal include the commitment of religious teachers, support from the school environment, and the active involvement of students in various activities that strengthen tolerance.
