Abstract

This research seeks to assess how well the Tahsin Al-Qur'an initiative enhances Qur'an reading abilities among students at SMP Negeri 1 Modo. The foundation of this inquiry stems from the observation that a significant number of students find it challenging to read the Qur'an smoothly while adhering to tajwid regulations. This investigation employs a descriptive qualitative method, gathering information through interviews, observations, and documents. Participants in the study consist of the head of tahfiz, tahfiz instructors, and students enrolled in the tahsin program. The results show that the tahsin activities are conducted regularly, supported by adequate facilities, and guided by teachers who provide motivation and correction actively. The program has significantly improved students' pronunciation of hijaiyah letters, fluency, and understanding of tajwid rules. However, challenges remain, including students' low motivation and difficulty understanding tajwid material. Overall, the tahsin program is considered effective and appropriate as a supplementary learning strategy to enhance Qur'anic literacy in the school environment.
